Hello everyone, I figured this is a good a place as any to proudly announce the Warband(s) you are running in game and maybe talk about them a bit.

I'm currently playing the Bareknuckle Beggars, a rowdy shirtless mob who refuse to waste their hard earned coin at the market and prefer to pick their weapons from the battlefield. Most are scarred and fearless and I've had some surprising success against all manner of adversary, except the roving packs of marksmen.. the Beggars aren't quick enough to close on them en masse before some key bruisers get made into Swiss cheese.

My other Warband 'Greasy Vultures' are a motley bunch of marksmen lead by the nigh unkillable crossbow sniper Lord Blackwater. He's the sole veteran of many many battles and I'm having trouble attracting men of stronger stuff to his cause.. most are dead by a skirmish or two.

What are the names of your Warbands and who are your favourite mercenaries?

I play the Three Tenors, a team armed with great weapons and very heavy armour. I have less men then most other warbands at my level, but I hit a hell of a lot harder!

Currently ranked 38th on the shards collected chart but with a warband rating of 772 (is that high?).

None of my guys have penalties for running in armour, and I max out STR and WS very quickly.

I've never had a hired sword, and only had 1 person die on me.

If you ever see my men in battle, you better shot them down before they get the drop on you!

That sounds like quite the formidable trio you have got going there, I'm ranked right beside you on the ladder with the Greasy Vultures but they aren't exactly well equipped so maybe that's why I haven't run into the Tenors yet. Here's hoping they will soon!

Who said anything about there still being just 3 of them ;)

What is your warband rating though?

A measly 387 Warband rating, with most of that attributed to my leader being level 26. None of the 4 are wearing any armor either.

Armour doesn't seam to affect warband ratings, just XP.

And we shouldn't fight against each other with that level of ratings difference.

My captain is only level 25 though!

My Warband is Marksmen of Miragliano. It is at 1209 Wb rating and ranked 8th in the Leaderboard. I must say I really enjoyed the game during the pushing up the ladder but when you reach the top, the map becomes absolutely repetitive (i.e. ONE!) Also, you will play against some guys so regularly that you can even remember the nick of his latest youngbloods! Another critical problem is Reikland boys are simply too good by the virtue of being nerfed at nothing, while Middenhelm is crippled at shooting and Marienburg has no melee talent whatsoever (at the utterly negligible boosts in other aspects). I think in the top 20, there are only 1 or 2 middenhelms, may be 1 Marienburg, the rest are just Reiks. The game is good but there need to be some improvement asap (for example, today update to forgo the Intro is very welcome). Cheers, lads.

Heh, I just thought that considering I fired my captain as soon as I started my warband I really shouldn't have picked Middenheim!

I do play against the same teams quite often, although not often enough to remember their warband make up. Hopefully I can catch up with you soon and give you someone else to play against.

Skaven are coming soon as well!!!

I think I met your Three Tenors boys during the climbing. Pretty tough, but nothing that massive firepower can't solve ;). Also the nastiest party in the top is a close-combat Reiklanders with 6 extremely high defense, HP (and fast) lads with shield and gromril swords/axes back up by 2 just as tough Hochland snipers. A joy to play against (at great casualty though!)

Pfft, I've easily taken down massive firepower teams. The AI just doesn't know about rotating forces to spread damage, and how to run around behind a building to maximise cover!

I've thought a few with high armour and 2 snipers, just killed one in fact. Snipers can only do so much damage to defence 50 troops before they get hit, and 2 rounds to shoot just wasn't enough for them!

I think you need about 65 to 70 defense 17 Hp combat beasts at the top. 2 handers just don't cut it and sword/axe shield is the way to go. Of course, you may win as man vs AI but with so much casualties that make warband progress difficult.

I always use great weapons and I've not had that many problems, only 1 death. Had a guy with frenzy, 2*-1 wound, immune to fear, -7WS. But just the 1 death!

The extra 15/20 strength mixed with 10/25% parry I find much more useful. Killing someone quicker means they have less time to hurt you.

Okay, I'm top 5 at the moment. 4 Hochlands (2 with sight), 1 repeater handgun, and two shielder guys (I know I can get 1 more but just prefer number 7). All have full plate and max HP and specialisations. 2 hander warbands will advance no more than 20 yards of my shooters before routing but the one-handers due to their great Initiative and defense can go much further. I'm generally coasting at the moment unless i fall into a dispersed map, in which one or two would be injured and robbed. But then it is balanced by the great loots lately. In one map against the Second Sons (top 6), I got a Full Plate, a repeater gun, an Ilthimar, several elven bows, handguns, standard weapons and lots of weeds:). Hope to see the Middenhelmers get some boosts soon as well as new factions, preferably the Witchhunters. Back to play Warhammer Fantasy 8th edition for now.

Why do you think two handed weapon guys have lower INT then one handed ones? You know there's a skill to stop that right?

I'd love to get loot like that! I'm still getting daggers, healing herbs, and 1-5 gold coins!

Really need more Full Plate's or some gromril armour!

Sure, but some advanced one-handed weapons give you strong boost on Ini (even though my top defender use the gromril sword for 20% parry). Anyway, I think two-hander is rather equal to one-hander in close combat but the latter is much more useful when you have to take on pew-pew parties. If two-handers are that good then there must be dozen Middenhelmers at the top 20 other than just 2 at the moment, the rest are either shooty or combined armed Reiklanders (with majority being one-handers).
Concerning the loots, look for the instance of the map that have lots of dead bodies. You should try to loot as much as possible as the yields are pretty staggering. I just looted two of such a map today and after that money is of no concern for now (as long as it's not about Gromril armor). Anyway, I don't think Gromril armor is worth it, being twice as expensive as Full plate for the measly additional defense of 5. If I loot it, sure, but I would rather save lots of money for my future retirement plan (i.e. getting robbed!)

I actually found a Gromril yesterday on a body!

You're wrong about it being a measly 5 defence though, you're just comparing it to full plate. You need to compare any new gear to your WORST items, not your best. By giving the Gromril to my leader I gave his full plate to my 2nd, who gave his Heavy Cuirass to 3rd, who gave his Skull Cuirass to my 4th. I gained 20 additional armour in my war party from that one item!

Also every tiny advantage helps and the closer to the top the more those small differences will matter.

I also keep spare armours and weapons at all times to cover robberies, and current storing 28 wyrdstone as well.

As I have said, I already have full plate for all members. For sure, I would be ecstatic to loot one gromril armor whether at rank 1000 or 1, but to buy it, no. You would propably think the same concerning the purchase as 2 full plates beat 1 gromril any time (if two of your lads still sport bragantine, then that's 40 +Def vs just 25+. Anyway, massive congrats (the maximum loot I got was just an ilthimar!)

I play as the Reiklander team "The Karland Raiders".
I imagine them as a lower nobility family who try to make money by sending the spare children, and servants, to Mordheim and get some warp stone.
Their theme is red and black clothing and all, save the two Freelancers who serve as bodyguards, wear Burgher hats.

They are currently led by Christof Karland, a Marksmen who fights with dagger and pistol. His younger brother, Stefan is the bloodthirsty tank. The original captain Thomas Karland was the older brother who got killed by some Middenheimers and Stefan got Frenzy shortly afterward so that was some lovely roleplaying right there.
Karl Krankenkrafte is one of the servants who came along and a good enough marksmen, mostly hits when he needs to.
And of course the two Freelancers dubbed Left and Right, one with a Comet Halberd and the other with a Label. Bodyguards send by dear old papa to keep his boys safe....so far they screwed up once.

Rating is 790 at the moment. Not to great, I know but there you go.

After losing progress of my previous warband, Greasy Vultures, I found time to grind another warband.

Royal Farthingtons started strong with two hochland scoped snipers and two frenzied tank frontlines but towards the end of my climb I was getting sloppy and not being patient with my cat and mouse ambush tactics, leader was KO'd and robbed setting back the damage majorly.

My secondary tank was brained and is now too dumb to rely on.. but I'm at shard rank 31 and sitting on 668 warband rating. Phew, all in a day's work :p
