Hear Yay Hear Yay! The dread lord Vlad Von Carstein has mustered an army on the borders of Stirland and may be making a bid for the Imperial throne. There has also been a massive increase in Necromantic activity in the Ruined City of Mordheim are the two connected? The Undead will be launched later today (it may be slightly later on iOS). This is our first Warband with a spell caster as the leader, our first warband that is made up of different races and troop types and a totally new magic system so balancing and testing was a really big undertaking, many thanks to all the testers that helped out. The main troop types in the warband are Dregs miserable human survivors of the demise of Mordheim and Ghouls descendants of evil and insane men who ate the flesh of the dead. The warband is led by a magic-wielding Necromancer who can raise corpses as Zombies. Each of the warriors in the warband has the embedded charnel wrangler skill that will allow them to have a zombie as a pet if the warband has a necromancer. Playing the undead is a very different experience to the existing warbands they are generally a bit slower and steady followed by explosive action. There is also the potential to really vary your play style from owning a pack of multi-attack ravenous ghoul heroes to nurturing elite Dregs who will one day be as strongly armed and skilled as the mercenary jocks that used to oppress them before the cataclysm. For fans of the table top version Vampires will soon be available as Hire-swords but when purchased they will take over as leader. We tested them as the starting leader but with a warband made up of fear causing ghouls with two attacks and dregs being not that different to mercenaries adding in a supercharged desanguinator early on was too overpowered. Also, Zombies are such a classic undead troop type we wanted them and a magic user with the skill to create them in from the beginning.
